Brisbane kennels and catteries tighten their rules over Christmas and New Year: 7 to 10 day minimum stays, Christmas-only daily rates, non-refundable booking fees and, at one Gumdale kennel, a booking fee deadline of 31 October. This page tracks what each provider publicly says about Christmas 2026.

What the Christmas rules mean for your budget
Minimum stays and Christmas rates add up. At The Links Pet Centre, a large dog staying 24 December to 2 January is 10 calendar days at the published Christmas rate of $85, which is $850 per dog before any public holiday surcharge (source (opens in a new tab), checked 23 Oct 2026). At Pet Resorts Australia Gumdale the cheapest advertised dog room starts at $40 a day, so the 7-day Christmas minimum is at least $280, but the Christmas Rate itself is not published and will likely be higher (rate (opens in a new tab), minimum (opens in a new tab)). These are our arithmetic from published figures; your quote may differ.

Are Brisbane kennels booked out for Christmas 2026?
None of the 8 Brisbane providers we track published a booked-out notice when we checked on 25 Oct 2026. That does not mean they have space — most only confirm availability by phone, email or their booking system.
How long is the minimum stay at Brisbane kennels over Christmas?
Among the Brisbane providers we track, Pet Resorts Australia (Gumdale, Narangba and Samford) charges a minimum of 7 days across Christmas and New Year, and The Links Pet Centre in Goodna has a 10-day Christmas minimum (5 days at Easter). Hanrob, Kip, AAA Pet Resort and Coltrandi do not publish a Christmas minimum, but all charge per calendar day, so a one-night stay is billed as two days.
Is there a deadline to book Christmas boarding in Brisbane?
Coltrandi in Gumdale says its Christmas booking fee ($100 per pet) is due by 31 October and is non-refundable after that date. Pet Resorts Australia needs a 25% non-refundable booking confirmation fee before any stay is confirmed. The other providers do not publish a deadline, so call early.
Do Brisbane kennels charge more at Christmas?
The Links Pet Centre publishes Christmas rates for 24 December to 2 January: $75 a day for small dogs, $85 for large dogs, $90 for extra-large dogs and $42 for cats, plus a $20 public holiday surcharge. Pet Resorts Australia applies a Christmas Rate for one month over Christmas and New Year, AAA Pet Resort adds a surcharge on public holidays, QLD school holidays and long weekends, and Hanrob prices by low and high season; none of those three publishes the amount.
What vaccinations do Brisbane kennels require?
C5 for dogs and F3 for cats is the norm. Hanrob also requires an annual canine cough vaccination given at least 2 weeks before arrival; Coltrandi accepts C4 or C5 given at least 10 days before entry; Kip wants a new vaccination at least 10 days before check-in if the old one lapsed by more than 14 days; and The Links applies a flea and tick treatment on entry.
Can I drop off or pick up my pet on Christmas Day?
Check first. The Links Pet Centre is closed for check-in and check-out on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, 27 to 31 December and New Year's Day, and its last Christmas check-in is Christmas Eve.
